2023: Since propaganda is failing, is abduction next for the Saraki-led Kwara PDP?

By Adisa Ismail

Were you shocked when former President of the Nigerian Senate Dr Bukola Saraki directed at an event attended by his motley crew of supporters that full blown propaganda should be deployed in prosecuting the 2023 elections in Kwara State? I was not shocked. Saraki has been a creation of propaganda.

The propaganda his team deployed against late former Governor Muhammad Alabi Lawal formed part of the factors that won him the state way back 2003. The strategy however failed him when the people of Kwara came to full consciousness in 2019 and declared Otoge, meaning ‘enough is enough.’ This ultimately led to the shellacking Saraki suffered at the polls.

However, since then, the PDP leader had been crying wolf that propaganda was used to send him out of power. Bad people think every other person is like them. For the umpteenth time, propaganda did not drive Saraki out of power. On the contrary, their maladministration, underperformance and impunity got them out of office. Plus, the fact that the propaganda they ride on to bamboozle the people failed. The earlier Saraki knows this, the better for him. But he has been adamant on his erroneous belief that propaganda did the job. He had therefore commanded his supporters, majorly the fake boys, to spread falsehood, deploy propaganda against the current government.

However, like propaganda failed them in the past, it has started failing them again. This is because Kwarans are rational enough to see things. They can demarcate between the past and the present. The past where there was next to zero investment in basic education, agriculture, healthcare. The present where these sectors are gaining attention.

The huge achievement of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration is giving the Sarakis sleepless nights. They have hired propagandists to paint the governor and his government in a bad light, but they are failing. Kwarans are resisting all their attempts and standing by the truth, defending democracy and supporting performance.

Majority of Kwarans are blowing the trumpet of the new Sheriff. They are measuring his achievements against the rots of the Saraki dynasty days. This has clearly unsettled the Saraki camp. Their propaganda machinery is falling like a pack of cards.

Their next strategy is to gag citizens from showing the rots of the past and celebrating the modest achievements Kwara has recorded under the new administration. They are now abducting people. That’s what one Taju Alabi, former SA Security to Saraki has started in the beginning of this week. It was the same strategy they were known for in their days in power.

He led a purported police officer to the home of one of our citizens. Taju Alabi drove the purported policeman whose identity is yet to be known in his own private car. So, police do not have their vehicles again? In a gestapo manner, they declared the citizen arrested. No arrest warrant. No proper identification. Nothing. Nothing. That was abduction. For nearly four hours, nobody knew where they took our brother to. It took the intervention and the deafening shout of fellow citizens for them to quickly provide our brother. Are we in a Banana Republic?

This new shenanigan of abducting our citizens and preventing them from showing the rots of the past to the whole world cannot stand the test of time. Just like their propaganda, this one too has failed.

All security agencies are hereby alerted to this dangerous trend that Taju Alabi has re-established. He should be strictly monitored. His house should be searched to ensure that he is not keeping people who disagree with their corrosive leadership under siege.

Our brothers are also alerted to this dangerous scheming by the Sarakis. Propaganda is failing them. They want to start abducting people. Please, stay safe. When you see something, say something. It’s very important. When any Sarakite approach you, shout at the top of your voice, raise alarm. Don’t let them abduct you!
