Abidoye urge Christians to imbibe lessons of Lenten season

From Debra Ajulo, Ilorin

Christians have been asked to let the lessons learnt during the Lenten season to further strengthen their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Spiritual Father and Chairman, Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Worldwide Ayo Ni o, Most Reverend Prophet Samuel Adefila Abidoye, gave the appeal in his Easter message to Christians issued at the Church headquarters, Galilee Land, a copy of which was made available to News Hub Mag!.

According to him, after fasting for forty days, the humility exhibited by the Lord Jesus Christ who rode on a donkey to Jerusalem should be the guiding principles of Christians.

He also stressed the need for Christians to be their brothers’ keeper and assist the less privileged and vulnerable in the spirit of the Easter celebration to further germinate in their daily lives.

Prophet Abidoye said, “Regular reading of the Bible and prayer that have been part and parcel of our lives and characters should not be jettisoned but should continue as we need to move more closer to God to salvage the world so that His coming to the world will not be in vain.

“Yes, Corona virus also known as COVID-19 is seriously ravaging the world, this is the period to take our case to God and sincerely seek His face for an end to the current pandemic.

“The COVID-19 which has forced the Church to put this year’s ascension of Horeb on hold is an indication that the virus is no respecter of people or race.”

While stressing the belief of the Church in the efficacy of prayers, Prophet Abidoye said there is need to stay healthy and follow strictly the health tips and guide given by experts which includes regular washing of hands with soup and sanitizer, observing the social distancing rules, staying home among others.

He explained that restriction of movement of Christians to the various Churches does not translate to restrictions to reading bible and praying to God even in the different homes.

While commending Government at various levels for the proactive steps taken to curb the spread of the virus, the Spiritual Father and Chairman Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, called on government to create more avenues for improvement.

He charged Governments to seriously look into the social security arrangements and measures to adequately take care of the people as a result of the lockdown so that hunger will not kill the people while staying at home.

The Spiritual Father noted that, “though, we are unable to hold the regular Palm Sunday and other services of the Easter celebration, that notwithstanding, let us show love and obey the precautionary measures announced by the government to stay safe and alive.

“This is the time for the Church to start thinking of embracing the trend in the Communication sector to communicate and conduct services among others,” he added.
