Cleric enumerates lessons of COVID-19 at Easter

From Debra Ajulo, Ilorin

The Senior pastor, Christland Christian Center Ilorin, Bishop Israel Olaiya Lawal has reminded Christians in the country of the need to always look out for the lessons in every situation they may find themselves.

In his Easter message to Christians, he stated that, “Though this year’s Easter celebrations have been marred by lockdown of cities, communities and even churches due to invisible enemy called corona virus.

“Notwithstanding, this year’s Easter celebration must be unique in the life of every Christian because of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He paid all the price for our sins and deliver us from every sicknesses including corona virus according to Colossians 2: 12-15.”

According to him, Christians should remember that all things work together for good. He pointed out that the major duty of a Christian at this time is to pray and trust God for divine intervention and heal our land according to II Chronicles 7:f14.

In his words, “When we remember that all things work together for good we will agree that this pandemic has taught us valuable lesson that. One of which is that God will always be the Almighty God in every situation whether men acknowledges it or not.

“Also, whatever happens to the poor can also happen to the rich. All men are equal before God and circumstances of life. This has also taught us that rejoicing or casting blames over the victims of Corona virus is not wise because as we live, affliction is inevitable.

“Fourthly, Some people believe money can buy all things but not divine protection and healing which is from God. We have also been reminded that the blood of Jesus shed on the cross of Calvary is still potent and still working for as many that will believe and engage the blood for exemption from evil and sicknesses.

“Finally let us use the virtue in death and resurrection of Jesus to defeat the deadly disease and to bring Nigeria up again from crashing economically and politically.”
