Following the recent presidential broadcast on a phased and gradual easing of the lockdown measures occasioned by the novel coronavirus pandemic, the university of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara state has directed its staff to resume duties as directed.
In an internal memo from the office of the registrar and dated May 1st, 2020 the memo said, “officers are expected to be in the office, three times a week i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and close at 2.00pm on these days.

However, in flagrant disregard to a circular from the office of the head of service of the federation with Ref. No. HCSF/109/S.1/1/100 dated 30th April, 2020 which stipulates that only officers from grade level 14 and above resumes the university of Ilorin directed “staff on CONTISS 11 and above to resume work.”
When contacted the chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities in the institution, Mr. Muhammad Jimoh Akanbi, confirmed the development but assured that it was a mistake and efforts were afoot to correct the mistake.
“As I talk to you right now, I’m in the office and there is no level 12 downwards in the office,” he told News Hub Mag!
When contacted the image maker of the institution, Mr. Kunle Akogun also confirmed the development to News Hub Mag! but denied knowledge of an amendment to the memo. He stated that the institution expects the affected officers to resume as directed.
Some staff of the institution who spoke to News Hub Mag! on condition of anonymity confirmed that officers on CONTISS 11 and above have since resumed on Monday and there had been no counter directive to that effect.
