Kwara state and FCT male football teams have booked a place in the final of the Edo 2020, making it two for Kwara state in football, following the qualification of the female team earlier.
FCT walked over Niger team which failed to show up for the match on Wednesday for North Central zonal elimination qualifications in Ilorin.
The FCT team had in Day 1 on Tuesday defeated Kogi by 6-1.
Nasarawa forced host state Kwara to a goalless in an entertaining encounter that kept spectators at their seats, but the team, following the intervention of Kwara FA, defeated Plateau 1-0, to pick the second ticket.
After playing out a goalless draw against Nasarawa, the FA, led by Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa had called a meeting of stakeholders, to review the team’s performance, pointing out that the state needs the ticket, because of its pedigree in football.
That intervention must have prompted the team to up their game against Plateau state, which had also played one all draw with Nasarawa.
In his reaction after the qualification, the FA Chairman, Alhaji Musa said that all hand must be on deck, to present a strong team at the Festival.
News Hub Mag! reports that the highly elated Chairman commended the team and it’s coaches, as well as the Sports Council and other stakeholders, for their support and cooperation.
