Eschew fake reportage -Bishop tells journalists

The Bishop of Anglican Communion, Kwara Diocese, The Right Reverend Sunday Timothy Adewole has enjoined journalists in the country to be guided by the ethics of the profession.

The Bishop made the call on Sunday at St Barnabas Cathedral, sabo-oke, Ilorin, during a church service to herald the commencement of the 2019 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of journalists (NUJ) Kwara state Council.


Speaking on the topic, Trust and Obey, the cleric urged Nigerians to put their total trust in God as only him can do what no man can do. 


According to him, people trust whatever journalists put forward into the public domain thereby placing enormous responsibility on journalists to responsibly carry out their duties.


The Rt. Rev’d Adewole said as professionals journalist should have trust in God to be able to gain his favour in the discharge of their duties.


He also advised them to have the fear of God in the reportage of any assigned duties and ensure fairness. He urged journalists to be obedient to God and remain committed in the discharge of their duties.


The theme of the 2019 Press Week is “The Role of the Media Towards Enhancing Good Governance and Economic Development.”
