JAMB tourney: Unilorin, Nuhu Bamali target final tickets

University of Ilorin and Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria, who are the defending champions of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) sponsored tertiary institutions football competition yesterday picked semi-finals tickets of the competition.


Also in the semi-finals are Federal College of Education, Gombe, and Ekiti State University, Ado.


University of Ilorin defeated Federal Polytechnic of Bauchi 4-3 in the quarter-finals today, and will now play Federal College of Education, Gombe in the first semi-final by 10.00am tomorrow, at the University of Ilorin pitch.


Ekiti State University, Ado defeated Kwara State University 7-6 on penalties, after a goalless draw, to draw Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, which defeated Federal Polytechnic, Ede, by 4-1 in the quarter-finals.

The second semi-final also holds tomorrow at the University of Ilorin pitch by 4.00pm.
The final has been scheduled to come up at the University of Ilorin on Saturday, beginning from 3.00pm.


Expected to grace the final on Saturday are the Kwara state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who will be the Special Guest of Honour. 


Others are the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba, the Chairman of JAMB Board, Dr. Emmanuel Aguzie Ndukwe, JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, while the Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem will be the Host.


The occasion will be chaired by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare.
