Kogi NMA refutes misleading headline on COVID-19 pandemic

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kogi State chapter, has dissociated itself from a misleading headline in an online publication which allegedly accused Kogi Government of ‘not following laid down protocol’ on Covid-19 Pandemic.

The online publication quoted it’s headline as: “Kogi Gov’t Not Following Laid Down Protocol”.

A statement by the NMA Chairman in Kogi, Dr Kabiru Zubair, stated that NMA was categorically misquoted out of context and therefore dissociated itself from the misleading headline.

“The attention of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kogi State chapter, has been drawn to a sinister online media headline that misrepresented her original intendment on Covid-19 pandemic in the state.

“The NMA Kogi wishes to state categorically that she was quoted out of context and hereby wish to distance itself from the misleading headline as this was never authorize by her.

“The NMA further distance herself from similar unauthorized publication either online or in print.

”The original intention of the NMA publication was to reject the proposed pay cut for health care workers in the state and to push the Government to take definite and concrete steps with respect to the management of possible cases of COVID-19 as the global pandemic escalate in Nigeria, even though the state is yet to record a single case,” Zubair said.
