Ahead of the November 16 Kogi governorship election, the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in conjunction with a non governmental organization (NGO), Search for Common Ground, staged a “Media Peace Day, on Tuesday, in the state capital, Lokoja.
In a statement signed by the NUJ state chairman, Adeiza Momohjimoh and the secretary, Ademu Seidu the Council said the programme is to preach the essence of peace ahead of the governership election in the state.

The peace rally saw media practitioners in the state in a road walk to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police command headquarters in Lokoja, where peace messages were delivered to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) and the Commissioner of Police (CP) respectively.
The peace rally was followed by a lecture at the NUJ Press Centre, tittle: “The Role of the Media in Ensuring Peaceful Election.”
