Kwara APC mourns slain kidnapped victim, Onijala

Knocks PDP for politicising security issues

Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has commiserated with the Onijala family of Isin local government on the death of Mr. Adegboyega Onijala, condemning the roughnecks behind his abduction and saying they will be caught and made to face the full weight of the law for their crimes.

The party in a statement issued, described Onijala’s death as very devastating in spite of the concerted efforts of the security agencies to secure his release.

“Our thoughts are with the family in this time of grief. May the soul rest in peace,” the statement quoted the party as saying.

On the incidents of kidnappings and killings in KwaraState, the APC described as unfortunate the tenor of the opposition PDP that seem to further incite and stoke the pain and anguish of mourning families who are forced to confront these atrocities.

“Addressing this scourge, requires a great show of empathy and coming together as a society to squarely confront these elements and the danger it poses to our democracy and peaceful life in the country.

“We call on the public to ignore mouthing platitudes of these politicians who consider little, if anything of national interest, by igniting combustible materials through their myopic conducts.

“Our party reassures the public that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq continues to work with relevant security agencies, traditional institutions, local vigilante groups and community stakeholders to keep Kwara people safe. Such inclusive efforts have been applauded by various security agencies, including the Inspector General of Police, who recently commended Kwara as the safest state in the midst of the national security challenges.

“Apart from constantly supporting the security agencies with logistics and other motivations, the Governor has continued to leverage on the goodwill of the traditional institutions and local vigilante groups to support the mainstream security architecture. It is therefore irresponsible for partisans like the PDP to want to hide under such unfortunate incident of Mr. Onijala’s death to heat up the polity,” the statement said.
