Kwara Assembly member pays school fees of 300 students

In his bid to assist parents of students in his constituency, the member representing Share/Oke-Ode constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Owolabi Olatunde Rasaq has paid the school fees of over 300 students in the public school.

The benefiting students cut across Share I, II, III, IV, and V, Oke- ode I and II, Ilere, and Oro-Ago ward of Share/Oke-Ode constituency.

News Hub Mag! recalls that on 13th of October 2019, Hon. Owolabi during a townhall meeting with APC members from Share Ward 3 and 4 held at Babanloma Community School pledged to support students by paying their school fees.

Speaking with journalists, Hon. Owolabi stated that the payment of the fees was a product of his educational needs assessment survey and parents outburst during the town hall meeting.

Quoting Nelson Mandela, Hon. Owolabi said ”Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world and no country can really develop unless its citizens are educated.”

He disclosed that the programme will be a continuous one and will cut across all tiers of the educational level. He further disclosed that over 150 more forms will be sent out for another phase of this similar programme.

“After we rolled out the first phase of this scheme I discovered that more still need to be done and that is why I am preparing to send out more 150 forms for secondary students across the 10 ward under my constituency and this will be a continuous programme that will cut across all tiers of the educational level.” He said.
