KWSG says hosting of various events will boost economy of the state

The Kwara State government says the hosting of various Sporting competitions and events will boost the economy of the people and that of the State in general.

The State Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi gave the indication on Thursday in Ilorin while receiving the Chairman Organising Committee, Nigerian Air Force Combat Sports Competition, Air Commodore Abiola Amodu in his office.

Mr. Alabi noted that hosting the competition would improve the socio-economic development of the people and the State.

The Deputy Governor appreciated the Nigerian Air Force for its support especially in the area of security and restated the readiness of the State to host the Competition as it has the comparative advantage.

He described the State as the gateway between the South and the North and its people are peace loving and accommodating.

Mr. Alabi promised that the facilities needed for the hosting of the competition would be given adequate attention.

The Chairman Organising Committee, Nigerian Air Force Combat Sports Competition, Air Commodore Abiola Amodu said the inter-command combat sports competition is to sharpen the skill and combat readiness of its personnel to meet the Nation’s security challenges.

Air Commodore Abiola explained that over seven hundred of its personnel would participate at the Competition that would feature ten events including Taekwado, Wrestling, Judo, shooting and tug of war.

The Chairman who noted that three States Kano, Imo and Kwara are being considered to host the event expressed satisfaction with the facilities visited by the committee in the State.

He stated that the competition would tentatively hold from the sixteenth to the twenty third of November this year and called on the State government to assist in providing accommodation for the participants among others.
