A 30-year-old man, Joshua Kayode, who allegedly broke into an office and stole N450,000 cash, was on Tuesday brought to the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Kayode, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and burglary.
The prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 14, at about 3.00 a.m. at No. 1, Akinyele St. Ipaja, Lagos.
He told the court that the defendant allegedly broke into the complaint, one Mr Abdul Azeez’s office, and stole N450,000 cash.
Aigbokhan said that the offences contravened Sections 287 (a) (b) and 309 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Miss K. A. Ariyo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She held that while the sureties must be gainfully employed, one of them should be a blood relative of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until Dec. 2 for mention.
