New dawn in Kwara AGN

A new chapter was recently opened in the history of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Kwara State chapter as a new crop of leaders was been elected to pilot the affairs of the Guild for the next two years, News Hub Mag! reports.  

The inauguration and swearing in of the new executives took place at St. Joseph’s Centenary School, Ilorin on Friday, August 13th, 2019 and was administered by Barrister Obafemi A. Olawale of John Olusola Baiyeshea & Co., Testimony House, G.R.A., Ilorin.

The election kicked off about 9:30am and came to an end at about 1:30pm. Investigations by News Hub Mag! indicates that a total of 48 members revaildated while 42 members voted.

Although most of the positions were unopposed, the post of PRO turned into a tug-of-war as Taiwo Hassan Hassan popularly known as Baba T locked horns with Niskan Esu. Baba T however lost the position as he garned 14 votes compared to Niskan Esu’s 27 votes.

The new chairman of the Guild, Chief Ajala Adedotun emerged with a total of 34 votes.

Other members of the executive are Dr Itohan Igudia, Vice Chairman: Mr. Adams Stephen, General Secretary: Mrs Princess Blessing Michael, Financial Secretary: Mr. Nsikan Esu,PRO: Mr Adeyemi Elija, DGS: Miss Ifeoma Iwuchukwu, Treasurer: Mr. Guvoeke Taiwo, Assistant Secretary and Mr Adex Stephen Ifeanyi, Chief Whip.

In his acceptance speech after the election, the chairman of AGN Kwara, Chief Ajala assured members, and intending members, of an open door policy stressing the need for all hands to be on deck so as to move the Guild forward. 

The chairman who stressed his commitment to redirecting the affairs of the guild towards professionalism, unity and progress lamented that the Guild had been comatose for too long. 

He told News Hub Mag! that training and retraining of members, drive for membership and welfare of members will form the fulcrum of his administration.
