NUJ decry state of Lokoja-Abuja road

The federal government of Nigeria have been called upon to rehabilitate the roads leading into the Kogi state capital, Lokoja, News Hub Mag! reports.

The National president of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Chris Isiguzo NUJ made the call on Thursday at the national executive council meeting of the union held in Lokoja.

He said most delegates attending the program were held up along Okene- Lokoja road as a result of the bad conditions of the road leading to Lokoja.

Comrade Isiguzo appealed to the federal and state governments to facilitate the rehabilitation and completion of the road.

He expressed sadness over the deplorable conditions of most roads in Nigeria and called no governments at all levels to do something positive urgently.

Earlier, in his welcome address the state chairman of NUJ, Comrade Adeiza Momoh Jimoh thanked the state government for facilitating the successful hosting of the annual executive council meeting in Lokoja.

Adeiza urged the state government to fulfilled all earlier promises made to the Council by the state governor especially the promise of a bus and reinstatement of subvention to the council.

In his remarks, the state governor who was represented by his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja laud the governor’s approval of the meetings in Kogi state.

He announced the readiness of the Yahaya Bello led administration to partner journalists in the state without any harassment from any quarters.

He enumerated the many achievements of the present administration and how it had put an end to all tribal sentiments hindering the progress of the state

News Hub Mag! reports that the meeting is being attended by state chairmen of NUJ across the country and all national executive members of the union.
