The member representing Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Raheem Tunji Olawuyi has pledged the completion of the last potion of Ekan-Imoji rural road project in the constituency, News Hub Mag! reports.

Olawuyi made the pledge during an on-the-spot assessment of the road project being handled by the Nigeria Army Engineers Corps, on Friday.

The 3.5 kilometer road project initiated since 2015 but abandoned due to lack of funds recently received a boost and is being executed following the intervention of Olawuyi.

The lawmaker assured the people of the communities that efforts were in top gear towards ensuring adequate budgetary allocation for the timely completion of the road project.

Olawuyi who expressed satisfaction with the level of work done on the road rehabilitation also used the opportunity to visit an abandoned primary healthcare centre project in Ekan community initiated since 2004.

The centre, although presently in about 80 per cent completion stage, had most of its fittings vandalized due to its long abandonment.

The lawmaker who decried the high number of abandoned projects across the constituency, however, assured that such projects were already receiving the desired priority attention.

“This Ekan-Imoji road project in Oke-Ero Local Government Area is just one of the road projects initiated by past administration and abandoned due to lack of funds.

“I have moved round some of the communities in the constituency and quite a number of such abandoned projects have been identified.

“God willing, we will not relent in ensuring that such projects and others in the pipeline are given the desired priority attention and completed, for the overall benefit of our people,” he said.

Mr. Taiye Ashaolu, a representative of Imoji community, in his remarks, thanked Olawuyi for giving the road project topmost priority.

He said the project when completed, would not only ensure the smooth flow of traffic, but also promote commercial and trading activities among the people of the communities.

“We are more than happy and at the same time appreciate your efforts over this road project. This is a promised fulfilled and we are assuring you of our unflinching support at all times,” he said.
