Oniganmo calls for religious tolerance

 .As Youth fellowship of CSMC holds community outreach

The Oniganmo of Ganmo land, Alhaji Oba Anafi Sabairu Okunoye, Ilufemiloye l, has stressed the need for peaceful coexistence among different religions in the society as a way of enshrining development.

Speaking with Journalists yesterday at the sidelines of a community outreach by the youth fellowship of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Ilorin District Headquarters to the ancient town of Ganmo, the royal father said the ancient town has remained peaceful because of religious harmony.

“Your coming here today is divine we have been living with Christians for over 200 years. You see that Church over there, it has been there for over a hundred years and there has been no misunderstanding because we are one.

“Regardless of the religious inclination we are first human begins and we must be united for development to occur in the society.”

On some of the needs of the community, the traditional ruler called on the federal government to quicken the completion of the road project that runs through the ancient town with a view towards speedy completion.

Oba Okunoye who also called on the state government to focus on some rural roads said most of the infrastructures in the town has been through self efforts.

Earlier, the President of the Youth Fellowship, Evangelist Adebayo Awodola said the event is a way of giving back to the society.

According to him, the community outreach is part of the annual youth week of the Church.

“We started this some four or five years ago as part of celebrating our annual youth week. We have visited Kwara Poly area, Okelele area and now Ganmo. We couldn’t go out last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic but we thank God that we are here today.

“We are cleaning the environment, holding a health talk and going to give out drugs and food items to members of the society. You know cleaniess is next to godliness, our God detests dirty but spiritual and physical and that is why we have decided to come here to attend to the physical environment.

“We have also partnered with the State Government through the State ministry of Environment. We have a representative of the honourable commissioner here with us and we also have a truck that will carry out the waste from the community,” he said.

A representative of the ministry, Oladimeji Esther who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner, Mrs Remilekun Banigbe, commended the youth fellowship for the steps taken to clean the environment.

“This step is in line with the vision of the present adminstration in the state towards a clean and green society and that’s why the honourable commissioner is fully involved in this project,” she said.
