The Principal of Tanke Community Junior Secondary School, Mrs Abioye Opeyemi has commended the Rotary Club International, Ilorin GRA District over the renovation of the school toilet facilities.
She gave the commendation in Ilorin during the commissioning of the toilet facilities.
News Hub Mag! reports that Rotary Club of Ilorin GRA District had renovated the toilet facilities with the support of people of the community as part of its core mandate of ensuring sanitation and hygienic environment.
Opeyemi who expressed happiness over the development, said that the club’s intervention would go a long way in solving the problem of toilet facilities in the school.
While assuring the proper maintenance of the facilities, she called on other clubs and associations to emulate the humanitarian services of Rotary club.
In his address, the President of Rotary Club of Ilorin GRA District, Rotarian Ayodeji Adesina Olagunju said that the renovation covers construction of sockaway, extension of water into the toilet facilities among others.
He said that the intervention also covers extension of water into Civil Defense Post in the community.
Olagunju explained that the project was part of the community intervention programmes of the club as it falls under water, sanitation and hygiene in line with the needs assessment of the school.
He added that the club had been doing its best to meet the core target of providing humanitarian services to the people in the areas of education and literacy, water sanitation, disease control and maternal and child health care, economic empowerment, peace and conflict resolution.
He advised the management of the school to maintain the facilities well to encourage more interventions from the club.
Olagunju called on people in positions of authority to emulate the philosophy of Rotary club by making life bearable for the people.
The Chairman of Parents Teachers Association in the school, Mr Suleiman Akanni also thanked the club for the intervention, assuring that the facilities would be properly maintained.
The Magaji Oke-Ogu, Alhaji Abdulkadir Laro, past President of the Rotary club, Rotarian Amuda Alabi and President elect, Rotarian Peter Ajayi Oddiah were among the dignitaries at the event.
