A former commissioner under former Kwara state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed, Hon. Ahmed Mohammed Rifun, says his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was borne out of a genuine desire to identify with the giant strides of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Rifun who was a former commissioner Commerce and Cooperative and later Housing and Urban development made this clarification yesterday while speaking with newsmen.
The former PDP chieftain who was reacting to a certain picture of himself and the PDP Kwara North Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Bawa, which was being circulated on social media disclosed that the picture was shot over five months ago.

According to him, his defection to the ruling party was not influence by any pecuniary benefits but rather his desire to contribute to an administration that has done so much for his people in the Northern part of the state.
Answering questions on his influence in his constituency, the former TIC chairman who is from Kpada Ward III in Patigi Local Government Area of the state said, “Well, only God and my people can answer that question but you will agree with me that if I am insignificant my former party will not be cooking up propaganda to discredit me and attempt to cause confusion between me and my new party.”
Speaking in the same vein, another PDP stalwart from Tsaragi, Hon. Haruna Muhammad Tambiri, said his defection was borne out of his conviction that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq meant well for the state especially his senatorial district, Kwara North.
In his words, “My conviction and the performance of the governor that’s what attracted me to join the APC, after all I’m in politics for the development of my people and when I went home, I saw many infrastructural developments more especially the renovation and reconstruction of many classrooms in my town which is Tsaragi town.
“The construction of three main roads in Tsaragi town. There’s one from old market to new market that is under consideration and the one that is ring road from market to police station then another one that is market road that will burst out at Ibatakun. Those gave me the conviction that this man is in for something that is good for my community and not only my community but the whole district of Tsaragi that’s why I give kudos to him.”
News Hub Mag! reports that the former PDP chieftains therefore pledged their support for the reelection bid of the governor and to work for the success of the APC at the coming general elections.
