Retired Kogi High Court Judge, Justice Omolaye Ajileye Receives Community Honor

Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association( EACDA) has named the eminent jurist, and retired Judge of Kogi State High Court, Hon. Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, PhD, as recipient of its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.

The announcement was made by the scribe of the association, Elder Deinde .T. Komolafe, is coming three months after the legal icon bowed out of the bench, on attainment of 65 years, which is the mandatory age of retirement for judges of the High Court.
The ceremony is slated for June 24, 2023 during the Ekinrin Adde Cultural Day at the playground of Baptist High School, Ekinrin-Adde.

Hon. Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, who was recently described as an incorruptible judge by the governor of Kogi State, studied Law at the University of Lagos, Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984.

He was appointed to the prestigious office of a Judge of the High Court of Kogi State in 2005, where he served with outstanding distinction. He retired from judicial service on 15th February 2023.
His Lordship, Justice Omolaye-Ajileye is a scholar of no mean repute and a prolific writer of academic books and treaties, especially, in the area of his special interest, Electronic Evidence. He is someone who has given considerable attention to the study of the Law of Electronic Evidence. Hon. Justice Omolaye-Ajileye is unarguably the leading authority on the subject in Nigeria. His intellect has seen him produce four pioneering and ground-breaking works, his magnum opus being Electronic Evidence (with Cybercrimes Act, 2018) Revised Edition, 2019. Other books written by his Lordship include Electronic Evidence in Nigeria: The Journey So Far (2010); A Guide to Admissibility of Electronic Evidence (2016); and A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence (2020).

He also has to his credit over seventy (70) academic papers published in world-class journals and some delivered at National and international conferences.
His Lordship has been variously recognised and decorated at home and abroad for his industry, diligence, and steadfastness.

Amongst others, he won a Certificate of Nomination as Walden University Outstanding Alumni Award as Leader of Positive Change in the Legal Profession (2016), Award of Excellence by the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch, for expanding the frontiers Law in Nigeria (2022), and an Award of Excellence by the College of Law Igbinedion University, Okada, Nigeria (2020).
This extraordinary jurist and scholar is renowned for his profound understanding, vast expertise, and insatiable thirst for knowledge. He is sought after both at home and abroad alike.

He remains a resource person to National and international institutions and organisations, a few of which are: the National Judicial Institute, (NJI), the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering In West Africa (GIABA), the Attorney General Alliance (AGA) Africa, and the Rule of Law Development Foundation (ROLDF)
While in the service of the Judiciary of Kogi State, he was a Judge designated to try corruption cases filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, (ICPC), in Kogi State from 2008 to 2023. He also served as Chairman and Member at various times in various Election Tribunals all over Nigeria. It is worthy of mention that he was never blemished, tainted or found wanting all through his years in service.
