Stakeholders laud JAMB over tertiary institutions football competition

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been commended for sponsoring the ongoing football competition in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital News Hub Mag! reports

Speaking with journalists at the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium on Tuesday  after his team battered the Federal College of Education, Obudu 5-0, the coach of the Kwara State college of Education, Ilorin, Mr. Mohammed Usman noted that, “this competition will go a long way in discovering raw talents and push them into the limelight.”

While commending efforts of the management of JAMB for putting the competition in place he stated that the competition will serve as an avenue for students who are not academically sound to prove their mettle in other fields.

“All these are raw materials, some of these students are not sound academically; so this is another avenue for them. If by the time they are playing one or two matches, clubs will be seeing them here and there they can be discovered and made for life,” the PHE lecturer said.

On areas of improvement in subsequent programs, Usman urged organisers to provide a watertight platform to prevent professional players from appearing in the games.

“This competition is for raw players but professionals are into it and the rule says that even if you are a student and a professional you should not partake of this event. So JAMB should workk with other stakeholders to ensure professional players don’t participate in the competition,” he said.

Also, the captain of COED, Ilorin, Amusa Oluwatobi with JAMB number, 66569981FJ told reporters that the competition is an avenue for talents to be discovered and nurtured.
