Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi, has appointed former Gov. Saidu Dakingari as 2024 Amirul Hajj and leader of the state delegation for the Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, and issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
The SSG said the Permanent Secretary in the state Cabinet Office, Alhaji Malami Shekare-Muhammad was also appointed to serve as Secretary of the delegation.
Bala-Tafida said that Justice Umar Abubakar would serve as Deputy Amirul Hajj for the exercise.
“Members are, Abubakar Mohammed-Kana, Alhaji Usman Baraya, Muhammad Bello-Yakubu, Abubakar Aminu-Gulumbe, and Abubakar Sulaiman- Fana, among others,” he said.
Bala-Tafida said that the terms of reference for the delegation include, to supervise the entire Hajj activities and come-up with suggestions on how best to improve future operations.
“To ensure compliance with all agreement reached between the state Pilgrims Welfare Board (PWB), National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and the airline operators.
“To advise the Pilgrims welfare Board on all issues that will ensure smooth conduct of the operation,” the secretary said.
