Kogi Guber: Ex. Governor’s brother joins race

As the November 2019 gubernatorial election for who occupies the Lord Lugard House in Lokoja, Kogi state gains momentum, the younger sibling of a former governor of the state, Engr. Musa Wada has threw in his hat into the ring.

Engr. Wade, a staff of Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) who is a younger brother of ex governor, Idris Wade is also contesting on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).

While making his intention known at the Inauguration and meeting of his Campaign Organisation, tagged Engr. Musa Campaign Organisation 2019 restated his commitment to run an all inclusive government if given the mandate to be the next Governor of Kogi State.

He said that he would use his first year in office to declare a state of emergency to proffer drastic solutions to infrastructural problems confronting the state.

He promised to change the narrative and style of governance as presently witness by making the state and governance a people oriented pointing out that the seat of Government, the Governor’s office to be Peoples Office.

Engr. Wada described the nonpayment of salaries to civil servants in the state as unacceptable pointing out that payment of salary is a statutory obligation of the government.

According to him, payment of salary, pension and other emoluments will be paid as at when due.

He decried the poor state of infrastructure in the state adding that no Kogite is proud of the neglect of the state capital and promised to fast track the growth and development of the state.

Engr. Wada promised to give education utmost priority and make the payment of WAEC and NECO the responsibility of the government.

According to him, his mission to contest for the governorship is to rebuild and reconstruct the state and free it from the few cabals who have mismanaged the common wealth of the people which has left the roads in the state not motorable and civil servants miserable, poor and hungry.

He stressed that the issue of salary payment is not negotiable and not a privilege of the civil servants and reiterated his committed not to toy with their rights to enjoy the sweat of their labour.

In an open letter to delegates of the party, who will participate in the party primaries, Engr. Wada appealed to them not to think of their stomach, not to throw away their credibility and sell their votes to the highest bidder but think of the state and their unborn children.

He implored them not to sell their conscience for any kind of gratification which is not for good governance.

In his address, the Director of Protocol of Engr. Musa Campaign Organisation 2019, Alimajeri Isah Ameh, described Engr Musa Wada as a man of strong character, epitome of human service and the best of all the Aspirants.

In his address, Hon. Jambright charged the delegates not to betray the confidence reposed on them adding that any aspirant who relies on his money to get their votes will not be accountable to anyone.

Highlights of the event were the administration of oaths of office on the various committees, roll calls of various committees.

The event was attended by former lawmakers, local government chairmen, and the son of the former state Governor, Alhaji Suleiman Ibro Ibrahim.
