The Kwara Commissioner for Communication, Mrs Abosede Buraimoh has said the state government  would continue to upgrade facilities at its television and radio stations.

Buraimoh said this on Tuesday in Ilorin during a courtesy visit to the Correspondents Chapel of  Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara Council.

She said the aim was to ensure that the media organizations were properly equipped to communicate the government’s programmes and policies to the people of the state and ensure feedback from the populace.

According to her already, the Radio Kwara has begun 24 hours transmission while Kwara TV would also broadcast round the clock soon.

While fielding questions from newsmen on the activities of the government in various sectors, Buraimoh said in education, 600 schools were being renovated under State Universal Primary Education Board (SUPEB).

According to her, the school renovation cut across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGA) in the state.

“The renovation is not one sided, it cut across the three senatorial districts in the state. The renovation is near completion.

“The governor is prioritizing education in the state and wants the best for every child and learners.

“We want best infrastructural facilities in schools and other learning facilities for a better education system in the state,’’ she said.

She said that the decision to construct Tanke flyover project was arrived at after due deliberations and consultations about the traffic situation in the metropolis.

The commissioner described Tanke as a densely populated area in Ilorin with lots of students and other motorists facing traffic holdups at the roundabout

While highlighting the present administration’s achievements, Buraimoh noted that the state-owned media house, Radio Kwara and Kwara TV have been transformed and upgraded with modern equipment.

She also sought more support from the correspondence chapel members and the public in government’s desire to build a better Kwara.
