My Offer To Serve: Ajia unveils pact with constituency

The flagbearer for Ilorin West/Asa federal constituency in the green chamber under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia, says he is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for members of his constituency if voted to represent them at the green chambers.

Ajia who gave this assurance at the unveiling of his manifesto with his people titled, My Offer To Serve stated that he took time to put his vision for his constituency together in booklet form so that he can be brought to remembrance if he deviates from his pact with the people.

“I want you to take this document, examine it, and keep it safe. During my tenure and after, ask me questions and take me up on any of the things I have said in this document,” he said.

He described his declaration as a social contract and covenant with his people, saying that he would also initiate programmes and projects that would empower youth, women through sustainable jobs.

The candidate who also spoke of his desire to uplift his constituency and bring democratic dividends to the door-steps of all irrespective of party affiliations promised to revive and promote traditional enterprises such as traditional cloth weaving, pottery, cheese and shea butter making, among others which the two Local Government Areas he hopes to represent at the House of Representatives are renowned for.

He stated that he has mapped out strategies to ensure that such traditional business ventures become source of export and job creation that would improve social economic well-being of the people.

According to him he resigned from the Nigerian police Force and ventured into business and later politics in a bid to better serve his people. He explained that service to his people forms the core of his being given that he lived the best part of his life among them and can feel their joy and aspirations.

Ajia, who said that he understands what it means to experience poverty in life through his humble background, added that viable traditional family enterprises could reduce prevalent poverty in the area.

In his words, “My priorities towards achieving responsible and effective representation would include attracting federal government presence and support to our communities, active participation in decision-making process in the House of Representatives, building strong partnerships with government contacts and institutions for benefits of our people and making everyone in Asa) Ilorin West federal constituency proud, among other engagements.”

He said if elected into the House of Representatives he would sponsor bills to enable the country tackle current security challenges and have a better security architecture that would rely on intelligence gathering and coordination among the nation’s security agencies.

On what he had done for his people, he said that he had provided boreholes, classrooms, modern toilet facilities for schools, fire extinguishers for markets, transit camp for mobile police officers, and social centres, adding that the desire to do more and effect change of story for families and communities made him to enter into politics.

Also speaking, the state Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, and the Iyaloja of Kwara state, Hajia Adenike Abdulraheem Lambe, said that the candidate’s desire to serve was borne out of constructive thinking and intellectual ideology.

“His life history as a person from humble background would make him perform well because he would be able to feel the needs of the people to make people-oriented legislation”, they added.
